Finally, some good news

The following are from two articles, but I took the related info from each, so enjoy!

George Lucas made his first convention appearance in almost twenty years this week, and he had a special announcement to make. The creator of Star Wars and Indiana Jones told the 30,000-or-so attendees of Star Wars Celebration III that there were two Star Wars television series in the works at Lucasfilm.
The first, Clone Wars, will be an expanded adaptation of the animated Cartoon Network series. The Lucasfilm production, however, will feature full-length 30-minute episodes and be done with 3-D computer animation. The second series will be a live-action production set during the time of the Empire, between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. It will feature few, if any, main characters from the prequel trilogy. Lucas stated that "we're probably not going to start that for about a year." Lucas added, "We want to write all the stories for the entire first season all at once. I'm going to get it started, and hire the show runners and all of that, then I'll probably step away."

AND

While this week's Star Wars Celebration III was centered around the upcoming prequel film Revenge of the Sith, it also provided fans with the first concrete news on the two upcoming Star Wars television series. TheForce.net was on hand to record the details and share them with their readers.
The animated series so far sounds pretty straightforward: an expansion of the Clone Wars short cartoons into full-length episodes, redone in stylish 3D computer graphics. The more interesting news relates to the live-action series, which will focus on the early days of the Rebellion.Lucasfilm is planning, so far, to shoot and air 100 episodes, or four seasons' worth – possibly indicating that the show will follow a pre-set story arc. However, the show will be written and filmed one season at a time. Each episode will be a full hour in length. Lucas himself plans to direct the first season.
