love's masquerade

Love finds shelter behind many masks,
some to protect, some to conceal,
others to deny

When will we learn to discern reality from fables of 'Once upon a time..." love?

Love is not an urge or an action,
love rests in a response

Regard your heart without glamour,
it is only then do your true emotional realities come to life

My hands have brushed the wishing-stone once too often,
and in my effortless strains, I have emptied myself
in all the wrong vessels

I love often, I envy more
yet it costs me much

How often must I lose a piece of my heart?

It is in the holding that my grasp finds the barb

Never concern yourself with the thorns,
yet behold the rose

For we are all rooted in the same soil.
