a day worth waking up for

A day worth waking up for
Not often does one comes across this design
Yet I stand, or sit, at this very space saying such
I arrived awake the very moment I opened my eyes
Sun peering through my curtains at me, winking at the wall
Gentle wisps of wind found my prickled arm hairs, the ever-rotating fan doing its dutiful duty with such fervor
The shower, clearly shocked to see me naked at that hour, gave me a cold reception
Eventually it warmed up to me
As I left the washroom, to get dressed, the mirror smiled at me
With clothes upon my self and shoes upon my feet, the world awaits, yet doesn’t know
Driving always gives me the opportunity to remind the radio of how music should be,
I fear the radio only plays my eighties and nineties rock out of service, not enjoyment
Setting foot into a mall is a taste I greatly savor, although my wallet seems to protest
Sales greet my hands at appropriate intervals and with unexpected savings
My wallet makes a feeble attempt at hiding my cards,
Alas I won again, although at some expense
Perusing art, purchasing art, making a new friend
Certain unexpected moments arise when least, well, expected
I arrived at one establishment with more hair than I left with
The day wrapped up by helping a person in need,
Spending yourself for others never leaves you shortchanged
Now the pillow calls, so with weary eyelids I wander off
A smile upon my face, a song within my heart
A day worth waking up for
