What is the meaning of life?
There it is, a simple question, right? Well, yes and no. How can it be both? Simply by whom you ask. To some people the meaning of life is calculated for them via their religious conditioning and others find their definition in a pure lack thereof. People vary in colour, language and societal function, so how can there be just one answer to such a broad question?
While it would take an unfortunate amount of time to discuss EVERY single answer, there is one that fascinates me. Sex. There it is, the one word that grabs everyone’s attention; some more than others. This is the one answer that many may not believe to be their own definition, yet it is the one common function that we all have had some involvement in; either involving the act itself or being the result thereof.
Perhaps sex, as trivial as it has been made to appear through centuries of societal abuse and rape, is not such a bad response to the aforementioned question. Sex is how we all got to be part of this whole experience we ingest every day; unfortunately life is not always of great nutritional value and good for your health.
Sex seems to be the thread that stitches together each one of our lives, and thereby connects us all to each other. If sex never was, then how could so many of us be? If sex did not bring us into existence, then we would not have a life to define. Maybe the meaning of life is defined by sex.
The act of sexual intercourse is one, which in a love-focused relationship can bring two people that love each other even closer. The act itself creates a physical and mental bond between two people, almost in a fashion to Pavlov’s theory involving dogs. In the same manner that the dogs equated the ringing of a bell with food being served, and thusly salivated when a bell rang, humans equate the person they had/have sex with, with wonderful feelings and extreme emotions of ecstasy. Therefore, sex brings joy and kinship into life, not to mention is an amazing form of exercise and is shown to keep people in good temperament and health!
If life is at it’s best when you are happy, healthy, relate well to those around you and have someone to reciprocate your love, then maybe sex is the single word answer to more than we thought. Just remember, if you think sex is the definition of meaning for you, do not allow it to define you.
