How often we spend time in preparation
Only to have the moment pass by far too quickly
This dance continues with each year
One foot in front of the other
Until the door has opened and closed seemingly all at once

The tender turmoil that arrives makes most of it all worthwhile
Yet how can we maintain more than a 24-hour vigil upon this feast of life?

Presents contain little value in comparison to all else,
Yet the glowing lights warm us and reflect upon our souls

I watch the hours pass at such an unfathomable pace that my mind spins, while simultaneously my heart sinks in knowing that tomorrow it ends and once again all else continues as it was.

Make this last, don’t allow it to go!

But how?!

My heart needs this,
OUR hearts need this.
