AI

Alright, I will comment on the fact that my top male pick did not win (although being in the top two is hardly losing).

I have to admit I am glad that David C. won just due to age alone, it becomes more difficult to be marketable in this day and age as you get older. He has a great sound to his voice, but also is very talented in arranging songs as well.

Alas, David A. did not win, but he is greatly talented at such a young age and I think this will work out better for him in the end. He won't have a spotlight on him in the same manner as if he had won, but will definitely be given the chance to have his own album. This way he can work with some vocal coaches and find his own sound and have an easier time grasping becoming a star.

The biggest difference I find between the singers is not just their styles, but I find that David A. has more emotion in each performance and that is key for my taste. Much like playing any instrument you can get all the notes right, but have no feeling. Not that it happened all the time with David C., but too few of his performances had the emotion needed...although he definitely has the ability if he tries.

There, my two cents on a topic few care about....more blog filler I guess :)

Ah ha! My top male pick (indeed, my top pick) won! Mr. Inkslinger and I would have done the happy dance there, on the spot, if we hadn't been so tired from all the sight-seeing earlier. Archuleta is too young and his identity as a singer just isn't there. He has a good voice and that's about it. David Cook has style, a voice, and an identity. Plus, he's just cool! :D

Just my opinion, though, in the immortal words of Simon Cowell. :)

May I inquire as to when you made your pick? As soon as the 24 were picked I chose and stuck with whatever I chose.

David Cook was not as impressive in the auditions, or for that matter until the later half of the season.

You may inquire. :)

I made the pick pretty near the beginning (certainly by the top 12). Michael Johns was the first favourite. Then, into the first couple of weeks my favs were David Cook, initially David Archuleta (but he lost it in the weeks after the Beatles week), and, yes I'm going to say it, Jason Castro (though he lost my good opinion about two weeks before he was voted off . . .just wasn't challenging himself. Repeating the same style over and over). I didn't like any of the females this time around (I mean, I liked the girl with the Janis Joplin voice and the striped hair but didn't think she had much range).

David Cook rally did become my number one choice early on. At first it was between him and Michael Johns (which one I preferred), but Cook edged him out because I literally looked forward to what he was going to do each week. Archuleta had some really good moments, but he was too predictably sugary for my taste (good vocals alone just don't do it for me). The first version of "Imagine" he did was great (when he repeated it, it sucked). And his "Long and Winding Road" was wonderful. And that's about it.
